The CPS decides whether it is in the public interest to prosecute ,so many crimes ie petty ones, are not.There is probably less crime at the moment ,burglaries for example as so many people are working from home.Where is this descent into lawlessness ?

Not prosecuting everyone who’s broken the law doesn’t equate to a descent into lawlessness (IMHO)

Then you either increase capacity or relax the law.The offence that the OP was taking about should have been dealt with by a fine which doesn’t automatically go through the court system anyway.

I think that many would argue that by DC not facing any censure  (criminal or otherwise) it has led to others breaking the same lockdown rules. In this specific example i would argue it has led to a state of lawlessness.
