BBC Breakfast again Matt Hancock not clear

Dan Walker was not  getting any answers from him this morning.

Jon morris ● 2317d20 Comments

Not exactly a surprise. Cummings will have told Matt exactly what he's allowed to say this morning. Any other questions will be avoided and diverted.

Paul Scullion ● 2317d

Bloody hell, and we've got another four and a half years of this sh**storm.

Vanessa Smith ● 2317d

Unless the non-sycophantic Tory MPs decide enough is enough.

Paul Scullion ● 2317d

ONLY 4.5 YEARS ? I will tag this for future ref

"Dan Walker was not  getting any answers from him this morning."Why is this morning so different?  No journalist ever gets a clear answer from Hancock.  Our journalists are far too weak and wet to confront this government so they get walked all over and seem happty to get 'non answers'  Bring back Paxman!!

Piers Morgan ?

Jon morris ● 2317d

Yes, Piers will give them a run for their money.

Steve Taylor ● 2316d

That would be a disgraced former newspaper editor who has somehow been allowed to re-invent himself as being a credible TV presenter and commentator...How I long to go back to when Hislop, without having to try particularly hard, showed Morgan up for the reprehensible human being he is.

Adam Beamish ● 2316d

Morgan is indeed reprehensible.  He is, however, one of the very few who will not allow the interviewee to get away with lying or talking BS or avoiding the questions. He is tenacious to say the least. Not many disgraced editors can re-invent themselves as he has. Oh, except for Rebecca Brooks and Bojo!!

Steve Taylor ● 2316d

And any mediocre journalist should be able to wipe the floor with Hancock who is so openly a moron.

Steve Taylor ● 2316d

Emma Barnett on radio 5 isn't bad, she'll ask the same question over and over again.  And tell them when they haven't answered it.  But she is a bit shouty.

Micki Hawkes ● 2316d

I just don't think Morgan should be in the position he's in, he should have been ostracised from the media, not promoted back to a position of importance by ITV and the Daily Mail.  But since when did principles mean anything these days, and sadly people lap it up...

Following the December general election, Hancock was the only Cabinet Minister fielded onto the airwaves. For one reason - he is a genius at stonewalling and evasion.

Roger Talbot ● 2316d

He is also the Health Secretary - sort of relevant for Covid.  It’s pathetic reading this thread as people moan about the government their advisors and the time to go until the next election.    In case you forgot they won a landslide so the self important liberal elite who are so happy to tell us their views over and over again via news night - the today programme - the guardian and here will have to wait.  There are a lot of people who disagree with them and don’t shout about it.

Charles Carr-Jones ● 2316d

Hi Charles. I wondered what your point was. Are you just reminding us that the hapless Hancock is Health Secretary in a time of healthcare emergency, when it is widely - globally even - acknowledged that we have made an utter mess of it so that thousands of people have died prematurely? Or are you reminding us that nearly half of us had more sense than to vote for Brexit? Or is it that the Tories were so misogynistic that they had to oust May to put the blond muppet in power? Landslide. Hmm . Could turn out to be a messy metaphor. Sadly, it will take years to put right the destruction Mr Johnson and his SPAD are inflicting on the country and our fragile but wonderful (but possibly late and lamented) democracy. There we go. The pursuit of power for its own sake is usually a very messy business. And so it is now. Very.

You talk about years to recover. Well I have just read something that if true will be another mill stone around our necks. Buil build build it goes. Well all houses built from now until 2025 will be built according to todays standards. However houses that get planning permission before this date can be built to todays standards and not the new standards. Green credentials? Well you decide!!!!

Nicholas Beard ● 2315d

"he is a genius at stonewalling and evasion."Absolutely not. He looks like a total moron when he makes feeble attempts to stonewall and evade. He shows up the whole cabinet as being uninformed, disinterested and with no leadership.  He comes across as weak and wet and totally transparent.

Steve Taylor ● 2315d

So apparently 18 student blocks still need their dangerous cladding removed because regulations were not updated and/or adhered to or were changed. How much more housing has still not been made safe?  Are these the standards that we will be building to when we also need to be building to zero carbon standards?

Philippa Bond ● 2315d

Sorry to have got you worked up, Steve.

Roger Talbot ● 2315d

'Buil build build it goes.'I puzzled my brains out to recall where I'd heard this nonsensical sound bite before, then it hit me. Anyone remember 'Only Fools and Horses' when Del had visions of being a super hot businessman and he was winding Rodney up by saying 'I'll say buy, buy, buy' and Rodney said 'Yeh and I'll say sell, sell, sell.' Problem is Bozza simply isn't Del boy, with whom we would be far better off!
