LBH Environmental services - Brain dead?
So the chap in the Scarab diligently sweeps and brushes and washes the curb gutters and leaves them spotless. Then half an hour later along come the two litter pickers who meticulously pick up every piece of paper, cardborad, plastc and cigarette butt. Great service. Thanks chaps. Half an hour later the extremely efficient wheelie bin guys arrive and quickly go about their business and the area is looking good. And then, oh dear, oh dear - the recycling people arrive and try to gather the green, blue and terracotta (coloured) boxes and load them onto the recycling truck but, as usual, there is too much plastic and cardboard stuffed into some boxes and it falls out en-route to the truck. The 'emptied' green, blue and terracotta (coloured) boxes are then randomly strewn across pavements and the recycling truck leaves the area. The wonderful job done by the gutter sweeper, litter pickers and bin guys is negated by the total mess left by the recycling people. It is quite ironic that people who care about the environment are meticulously sorting their recyclables and the people charged with collecting the recyclables appear to care not a jot.I don't really blame them because it is clear that they are rushed off their feet to get the job done. I do, however, blame the person or people who are supposed to manage the Highway cleaning and refuse collection process.Surely just a little common sense would dictate that the 'cleaners' should clean AFTER the collectors have left the debris? Is this really too difficult for someone who is supposed to be 'managing' street cleaning and litter collection?
