Track and Trace ain't working no surprise

Dido and Mr Hancock trying to explain why??

My Mum used to call a bit of a punch up a dido? Seems to fit, very appropriate name - she only got the position because her and her old man are fully paid up Tories. Like the womam charged with looking into this review brought about by the BLM movement - these people will just say and do as they are told.

Amazed that a government of any colour would give a job controlling those handling vast quntities of data to the person who ran TalkTalk when they had a massive data breach due to poor security and which cost them £60 million and lost  95,000 customers.  That was only money and customers of course, we are now talking about lives.

I didn't know about Dido past jobs to be honest.

You are discussing what Boris Johnson called a world-beating track and trace system.

DIDO - IS she the Baroness who is also a Director of the Jockey Club which caused the super spreader at this year's Festival and nearly finished off the ruling classes?Where do they get these people from ?

John Martin ● 2329d

Yes, that's the one.  And have a look at this:-https://www.indy100.com/article/nhs-testing-programme-talktalk-dido-harding-matt-hancock-9505216?__twitter_impression=true

The government is a national embarrassment. Macron turns up looking immaculate and every inch the statesman and Doris Johnson does his usual impression of an unmade bed.

Susan Kelly ● 2328d

Cherry on the cake ???what was that about She was the CEO of talk talk when there was  a security breach of customer details.

Jon morris ● 2328d

Susan u made me chuckle 😂😂

Apparently he likes painting. Perhaps he should do a self-portrait and ask Tracey Emin where he should exhibit?

Children,Track and Trace is not the answer, neither is the system developed to date by Apple and Google. The government has offered what it has learnt form the IoW experiment to assist Apple and Google and hopefully, with co-operation amongst them all, something productive will result (albeit in a lenghty timescale). Some here have done nothing constructive diverting the topic from its original observations and only have turned this thread into personal abuse and comments such as "unmade bed" and delight at Macron's sartorial elegance. Is this really all you've got to offer?

Albeit in a lengthy timescale? They either overpromised or lied. I’m going with lied. And dear child, less of the patronising  tone.

Private Eye has covered all of this weeks, months and years ago. They are all appalling !

What I cannot get round my head is the fact that Vietnam has been able to control the virus with technology yet we are p###ig in the wind.A friend who lives in Saigon and works for the British Chamber of Commerce was visiting Glasgow when Liverpool played Atletico Madrid in March. The following weekend he flew back to Vietnam and automatically spent 14 days in quarantine. Since then, he has had 2 more quarantine spells based upon information drawn from the phone app they use to identify those potentially in contact with people tested positive. Why are we not using similar apps that appear to work?

John Connelly ● 2328d

As Private Eye also outlined, nearly every virus-related emergency project has been contracted out to the private sector rather than funding existing public health or local authority organisations to do the work. Then when it's all over they'll say these private companies have made such a wonderful contribution to the public good that we're going to let them keep doing it. Privatisation by stealth. Even with the school catch-up service they're planning to send in private tutors employed by private companies rather than funding schools to employ supply or newly qualified teachers in the normal way. The real scandal is that so few of these private contractors have successfully delivered what they've been paid for.

Not sure any of them will work properly. From what I've read of them, they can't accurately give the distance based on the strength of the Bluetooth signal.  I'm sat typing this about 3m from the pavement in front of our house.  I could be a contact of everyone who walks past, unless they find a way to determine the range.

Al Webber ● 2328d

"she only got the position because her and her old man are fully paid up Tories"She wasn't really a success at TalkTalk either. Jobs for friends no matter how they fail.

Steve Taylor ● 2328d

Jon, I was never convinced of this working, many people just refuse to use Apps, I cannot download them as forgot my password, still not sure how it will work unless they text people, also not everyone has an up to date mobile some are using very old mobiles because they don't want to be mugged for them.
