If, as Rees Mogg asserts, MP's are only "doing their jobs" when voting in Parliament by the most time consuming system used in any legislative chamber in the world, then surely only MP's who have been present in the chamber since the start of the debate should be allowed to take part in the vote? This is normal practice in many legislatures.Of course, even before social distancing the House of Commons was too small to accommodate the majority of our MP's. Indeed, current plans to spend £ Billions renewing the place will not produce a chamber capable of accommodating all 650 MP's much less offer them modern ways of voting.Rees Mogg and his fellow dinosaurs argue that these archaic methods represent tradition, heritage etc. Meanwhile, our houses of parliament, with over 800 unelected clowns in the "other place" provides amusement for people elsewhere in the world living in 21st Century societies.
