Upgrading of Brook Road

Residents from Chiswick Village Community Group would like to ask for your support in putting pressure on Hounslow to resurface the road and pavement on Brook Road (the road just south of the mini roundabout past The Pilot on Wellesley Road) and to make the road two way. There are only 5 on road parking spaces there, and there is ample parking lower down the road for residents. They are due to close Stilehall Gardens on 4th June which means that the only access residents south of this road (approx 1000 residents, including an old people's home), delivery vehicles and emergency services will have is  Brook Road which, due to on road parking, can only accommodate the width of a car. Although resurfacing was requested over a year ago, at the time of the Cycle Highway consultation, nothing has been done about it and closure of the road has been moved forward without any warning to local residents (they put a sign up on Wellesley Road last week). It is not feasible that over 1000 residents  to use such a narrow and substandard road for access. I'm a bit confused Rhian.Closure of access to the S Circular at Stile Hall Gardens will mean less traffic along Brooks Rd, not more.I don't recall issues being raised when there were at least 1200 cars per weekday using Brooks Rd and Stile Hall Gardens as a short cut to the S Circular.Google StreetView, Satellite and census records show about 250-300 cars in the area and the only additional journeys will be those previously taken via the S Circular.  Journeys to the north, west and east used Brooks Rd anyway so no change there.So there will be a large reduction of traffic along Brooks Rd.That's good, isn't it?

The road is 2-way isn't it? Like Michael says I'm not sure there will be any difference for Brooks road users, just less traffic going to S circular via Stilehall Garden's. You can still access the area via the S circular turning into Stilehall Gardens. The road and pavements could do with resurfacing though, so you're right about that.

The petition got 64 signatories and has expired. Empirical evidence would suggest it hasn't been a problem - quite the opposite in fact. But the road would benefit from resurfacing, though with so few cars using it i guess there are bigger fish to fry.
