Bernard, thanks for linking to this. I think that it is great to see our local Councillors getting out there pretty quickly to support the government's policy on walking and cycling. This quote below from Gabriella Giles particularly resonates for me. We live very close and I have seen the same as her: a phenomenal increase in family cycling. Lots of brand new shiny bikes on the roads. And most remarkably kids starting to take over the roads in the evenings on their bikes, skateboards, roller blades. It is lovely to see and gives me hope that my kids wll be able to do the same when they are old enough. Keep it up everybody with the support of your local representatives.“Having spoken to families in Chiswick, the quieter roads we’ve experienced in recent weeks have enabled families to go out together on their bikes. They have seen an increase in confidence in their children's cycling ability, enjoyed their time spent exercising in the fresh air as a family, and are hoping to continue cycling as a family, even looking to change the school run to a school cycle. By encouraging the council to bring in practical, safer cycling measures throughout Hounslow, we hope that the recent shift away from car usage can become permanent”
