House on the market/social distancing

when the rules are that we can meet one family member in our garden, or one non family member in the park, how can our neighbours have a stream of potential buyers viewing their property, this includes entire families, kids etc. and of course the estate agents and the family (5) selling the house. Beggars belief, or am i missing something?

No, I totally agree.  Those of us lucky enough to have gardens are privileged, but most London gardens are barely two metres across the fence.

Which makes it even more urgent and important that we all keep an eye on our beautiful parks and open spaces, and try and ensure they are not used as big income generators to the detriment of the public, shutting out families and leisure users. High time that their upkeep and future is ensured and enshrined in law.

I thought nowadays that the family went out while the potential buyers looked around having been let in by the estate agent who may also show them around. They are first supposed to have looked at the house online.  Weren't there directions made on how this was to work?

Have you seen this stream of potential buyers at your neighbours? Estate agents have guidelines about how property viewings should be carried out in the present circumstances:"Initial viewings should be done virtually...and physical viewings should only be conducted where buyers are seriously considering making an offer... All physical viewings should be limited to members of the same household and open house viewings should not take place. When physically viewing properties, avoid touching surfaces, wash your hands regularly, and bring your own hand sanitiser. The number of people on a viewing should be minimised to those from your household that absolutely have to be there. If people are being shown around your home, you should open all internal doors and ensure surfaces, such as door handles, are cleaned after each viewing with standard household cleaning products. We recommend that you vacate your property whilst viewings are taking place in order to minimise contact with those not in your household. Anyone involved in the home moving process should practice social distancing in line with public health advice."
