Stirling Road Recycling Centre

Predictably there are long car queues already for the dump, and Colville Road is closed, so access only from Roslin Road. I'd maybe steer clear of it and Bollo Lane today!!!

I was at Space Waye this morning. The first cars were there at 6 for an 8am opening and the wait when I left 45 minutes ago was about 3 hours. Not how I would choose to spend my day.

It’s worse than the supermarkets! At least I understand the need for food, although still never joined a queue for more than about 29 minutes even then.

Perhaps both Hounslow and Ealing could have followed the example of other boroughs and used car registrations to stagger who could visit tips on a particular day?

They used to check to ensure only Ealing residents used the site by looking for  Ealing  parking permits but they can’t even do that now ,I suppose, since it’s all virtual.

Took about a hour to get into Stirling Road earlier today. Well organised queue moves intermittently as space becomes available. Only three slots available inside. Some awkward moments with post office vans trying to get through the queue into the sorting office and trucks delivering to adjacent sites. Marshalling guy said I'd be be better off coming later. When later? Wednesday!

You'd have thought Guy...that extended opening hours...even all evening or all night might have been considered.A 3 hour wait is ridiculous..... and you want residents to dispose of their waste responsibly and heighten recycling rates.

We want them to avoid unnecessary journeys. Many of those I saw were disposing of things that could easily have waited until the situation eases.In Hillingdon, which opened a week ago, I understand it was similar chaos on the first morning but quickly settled down.You may not appreciate that the council is under extreme pressure, with 22000 shielded citizens to contact and in many cases feed. The waste crews are keeping up an excellent service despite having a great deal more waste to deal with. Where do you think we get the extra staff including management to cover extra shifts when management is extremely stretched dealing with other aspects of the crisis and anybody who can be has been redeployed.And who is going to pay for it? As far as I know only Richmond has done the registration rationing thing and Richmond has an additional pressure because access is shared with the Crematorium which unsurprisingly is also very busy.

A pan-West London view of council waste sites:Hillingdon re-opened its HRRC to Hillingdon residents and trade account customers on Monday (11 May) with social distancing and traffic control measures in place. Hammersmith and Fulham is a member of Western Riverside Waste Authority, who also opened its HRRC on Monday (11 May) with reduced opening hours and accepting only garden waste and bagged residual waste. All other west London HRRCs are due to re-open on Monday 18 May. Opening hours will be from 8am to 4pm, all WLWA Borough residents will be able to access these HRRCs, they will continue to accept all usual materialsNote that Hounslow has kept the site open to trade clients and kept its bulky waste, green waste and food waste services operating throughout. Others, notably Richmond, have not.
