I imagine he is reeling given the backlash on social media about the clear and total lies he told in the last briefing about casting a cordon of support and help around care homes early on.  Blatant, appalling lies.  He must be so stressed he is off the planet if he thinks anyone believes that in the light of all the evidence tot he contrary.

I’m not sure he is stressed. The lies roll off his tongue with great ease and he is embedded in a cabinet under the sway  of Cummings where lying is seen as par for the course and totally acceptable At one point in the crisis I felt some sympathy towards him as he was being set up to carry the can, it seemed. But he has shown himself to be as much of a slippery character as the rest of his colleagues. But then, look who’s in charge.

I've never noticed his shirt and tie.  The job is too big because they got caught unforgiveably and unnecessarily unprepared for anything other than winning a majority and Getting Brexit Done.  They could see nothing else.  The party has lost a lot of experienced MPs.

I think he is doing a great job in very difficult circumstances, the world hasn’t seen a pandemic in over 100 years so no one was prepared for this. Remember his job is to provide the money he is not responsible for buying PPE or Test or track & trace, he provides the money which has been done. He is the spokesperson for millions of people working 24/7 so if you want to target a single person it says everything about you!

You are wrong Ken the NHS ran a simulation pandemic not the government. So the NHS got it wrong but a simulation against what type of pandemic no one knew ha! To be fair the NHS coped and will continue to improve the treatment for covid-19.

I'm sorry, Jayne, but it's you who have got it wtong. The NHS  did indeed  run a simulation pandemic, called Exercise Cygnus, over 3 days  in 2016, and presented it's findings to the Government, which ignored it. In fact, the Government were so scared that the findings would cause panic among the populace that the Report was swept under the carpet and never made public.Of course, if the Report had stated that all was hunky-dory and reflected well on the NHS and the Government's stewardship of it, you would have seen and heard Jeremmy Hunt shouting it from the rooftops.

Evidence please that it was swept under the carpet? The simple fact remains that any simulation particularly of a medical pandemic nature Is almost impossible to replicate. No one could predict Covid-19, they have made films about pandemics and of course it is terrifying and would cause panic. You only have to look at some people’s behaviour now they are gripped with fear of going out which is totally understandable. People don’t want to go back to work how much of it is people enjoying home time whilst being paid ha! Unfortunately one size does not fit all. We are still shopping for food it’s about being sensible, good hygiene and not putting oneself In obvious harms way.

More likely that the Govt was itself scared that people would make more of a fuss about the way that Govt has been running down the NHS and they might fall out of favour as a party.  It is all about money and power and that's not for everybody. Staff are expensive so let's cut down on them and see if we can do without them. "There is no magic money-tree" said Mrs May to the nurse who had not had a pay rise for years. Let's break everything up into bits and sell it or outsource it, not oversee it and then be surprised when it doesn't function smoothly. How many problems have we had with that already?  Letters from hospital consultants following consultations being stored in a warehouse rather than sent to the GPs was just one.Don't you ever read the news?  Where were you when there has been Avian Flu and Mad Cow Disease and HIV and MERS and SARS?  A pandemic is just an epidemic which has covered a larger geographic area eg crossed national boundaries. Just like all those planes when flying up above us do every single day.
