Airline flight vouchers..important change

I was due to fly to Florence this month but I decided to cancel and take a voucher equivalent to the ticket cost valid for one year after the cancelled flight day. I go every year so this seemed fine at the time.I changed my mind about the voucher and rang British Airways to see if they would refund the cash instead. I guessed the answer even before I rang but a polite, bright and helpful lady said BA had now extended the time from one year to two. Great,very happy.Asking if they were going to send me an email about this the answer was no but the information on their website, which it is. The point of this post is to let others know about this important change as BA have been a bit naughty in not making this known.This may apply to other airlines as I know someone flying, not BA, to see us from Argentina has also been offered this.

I had a flight cancelled and the email with the voucher code told me it was valid for two years which was the good news but the bad news is I have not had my Avios points refunded and its impossible to find out why

Thanks for the information, Adrian. I am in a similar position, having cancelled a flight to Crete which was due to leave last Saturday. In fact, at this precise moment I should be sitting down to lunch at my favourite taverna beside the beautiful harbour at Chania. Here's hoping...

I think I can answer this as I got a voucher for a flight part paid for with Avios.Unfortunately they're not returning Avios when you select the vouchers, instead you get the equivalent value of what the full fare would have been before you used your Avios to reduce the price.

Paul, Kris,are you with B.A.or are all/ other airlines offering two years do you know.I ask as my sister in law had booked with Ryan and finding it impossible to get any info from their Italian operation.

My flight was with BAI have two other flights with them in September I booked months ago so hopefully I will be able to just get the cash and points back then instead of a voucher now I understand the process a lot better
