Spare emergency food package

As I am classed as vulnerable I have been receiving the government food boxes. I do not require them and have cancelled but this hasn’t kicked in yet I do not require them and have cancelled but this hasn’t kicked in yet  A friend has been taking mine to a food bank for the last few weeks but cannot do so at the moment. Can anybody make use of this all find a good home for it. It would need collecting from Grove Park near Chiswick station.

I also received a box two weeks ago. And another last week.and two deliveries today. The men delivering will not take them back if you protest, though man number two today did so. I still have to go to a shop because things I consume are not in the delivery, but such items as UHT milk and sliced white bread are. Last week I rang a number I had been given, to request fortnightly, not weekly, deliveries. So two today! I have rung the Health Centre to ask my GP to have me taken off the list. We shall see. I know the adage about looking a gift horse in the mouth, but all this stuff for just me really is too much. And yet there are people in the flats where I live who ought to be recipients but are not, and I passed on last weeks box to them.

I followed instructions on the printed sheet in  my food box today.  I had to re-register but change the answers to whether or not I was able to get food deliveries from Supermarkets or via family/friends to YES I could.  Nowhere did it have a box saying please cancel my food box so can only hope it works.  These boxes are made for families rather than single elderlies so trust I'll not get anymore boxes delivered.

I discovered today that there are some food boxes coming direct from central government (others do come from the council). People are asking the council to stop sending them but it's not the council sending them and there does not seem to be a way of cancelling.Council officers are investigating but in the meantime if you let hounslowfoodbox.org.uk know they can collect and recycle to someone who needs food.

GuyThe Government do say how to Cancel the food boxs as Jennifer has pointed out.You refill in the form the the Government ask you to fill in from there original letter.You just change the answer to one questions and this is meant to be fed back to the government that you have a way to get shopping yourself.Then in theory they are meant to inform Brakes (a Sysco company) who are working in Partnership with the Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs.Out of Interest, many wont reconise the names of some of the food, but looking further a lot comes from Scotland instead of the England.I think that DEFRA have set up the website form to supply the food box's, but it sounds as though the cancellation part of it doesn't work. The best thing is to pass the food on to the Hounslow Food bank, that way it will get to people who need the food.

My email to the government food box people who delivered my box this week has accepted my re=registration where I made changes re getting supermarket shopping etc., and have confirmed that my food box delivery has been cancelled.  Ican re-register again should I need to.
