We watched the Apollo 11 mission on television and I remember my dad saying we had to watch it as it was history in the making. I remember the waiting for the returning splash down with baited breath - it seemed to take so long and now they can land a returning rocket (albeit not one that went to the moon) on to a moving ship right on the target circle! I am not too excited about all the metal work that is being taken up to circle the earth, but watching the rocket launch, separations and the return is just amazing. My brother had a (toy) model of Sputnik in the late 50's, which I was very jealous of, especially as he would not let me play with it.
