Dentists

Dr Ralph Gilhooly has brought to the attention on the opening page of ChiswickW4 the difficulties all Dentists are facing with the current COVID-19 please read and watch.    There are a large number of people at present who need help and treatment but the necessary PPE does not match the dentists requirements.   Without the protection there will be no Dentists - so is there a company locally who may be able to work with Dr Gilhooly to assist with the problem and get all Dentists back to help their patients.

I agree Janice and think this ,or something similar, is needed for head and neck procedures as well ie. ENT.

He is my dentist (apart from root canals which he doesn't do and I go to another good dentist for those, unfortunately two in the last year after not having had any dental problems for most of my life - something new in the water?(. He is a brilliant dentist, very reassuring and relaxing as well as being very entertaining and did a great costmetic filling in a front tooth for me.  As well as being a two minute walk away!

unfortunately it will take ages to be approved by the BDA and GDC, there are new highspeed handpieces on the market now with less spray. So hopefully they let the dentists work again.

I have been in pain for 3 weeks called the dentist today and all they can offer unfortunately due to the circumstance is advice to take painkillers

They should be able to prescribe antibiotics.  If they won't, try another dentist or contact your doctor.

Losing a bit of a filling shouldn't cause much pain. Butif the pain is quite intense - eg it stops you sleeping -  although I am no dentist I have, after living most of my life up til now relatively problem-free in the dental area, have had to have two root canal operations within the last 6 months and the pain beforehand was excruciating, which was because there was infection at the root.  Intense pain, I think, is usually because of infection and antibiotics really sorts it until the dentist can attend to it.  Takes about a week though for the pain to subside.

Try saline mouth wash three to me a day, it might help.

Thank you for your kind words.The pain has been so bad it has made me cry been taking strong painkillers and using antiseptic mouthwash going to have to give them another call tomorrow.  Pain is going through my jaw and up to my ear x  X

Lorraine, sorry to hear about your terrible tooth ache,I wonder if this information may help,as I recall seeing on twitter a few days back that a few hospitals are providing emergency dental care at the moment, one was a walk-in, but I can't recall which one,but maybe this tweet may help,basically Eastman Dental at UCL, Guys, St Thomas' and Kings College providing emergency dental services and you could do some more researching 'Hats off to the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospital @uclh for creating an urgent dental care unit from scratch. Just get either your doctor or dentist to prescribe Amoxicillin.  Job done for now.

Thank you for your kind words called 111 as per recommendation, was put through to a brilliant dentist working in Shepherd’s Bush had to have a root canal done only took 45 minutes including X-ray. They was wearing full ppe could not thank them enough x  have to go back once the lock down is lifted for a more permanent filling x
