MOVE MOVE MOVE

To the full-on runner (not leisurely jogger!) who blasted out of Park Road at the intersection with Staveley Road about an hour ago, shouting MOVE MOVE MOVE at me as I walked along the pavement at normal pace, pausing briefly to decide whether you were going to run straight ahead or turn the corner towards me, please get a reality check and some manners on who needed to make a quick (and preferably quiet) move move move around whom! We are all trying to do our best to navigate around one another with politeness and courtesy. You do not have a right to shout at others when you are the human equivalent of the vehicles that are speeding down emptier roads at the moment! Very happy that you are out exercising in your preferred way but....really! I have previously had to cross the routes of both the Rome and Washington DC marathons and no runner was as dramatic or demanding as you in their requests for non-runners to give way...just some feedback I hope you'll consider for your run tomorrow!!!

I think now may be the time for people to start using walking canes. Would be a useful deterrent against over entitled joggers and handy for generally encouraging people to social distance.

A friend of mine has now started carrying a long umbrella whilst walking from Fauconberg Road to Chiswick House and round it because of joggers/runners and their lack of respect for social distancing and other pavement and park users. Seriously thinking of doing same, but would prefer not to

Completely agree.  Once switched on to "jogging mode" there are many who thoughtlessly just keep going.  A friend was run into recently.  Besides all that the huffing and puffing disperses droplets everywhere.  On the other hand we have met a jogger who jogged on the spot so that we could go through a park gate without colliding or losing our social distancing. A female jogger.

I witnessed a lady jogger yesterday run into a fairly busy road in order to maintain social distancing, I didn’t know whether to tell her she was stupid or applaud her for keeping her distance 🤔

Spitting. The number of joggers spitting is a great concern. The pavement positively glistened with spittle in the early sunlight yesterday.

Its true that whilst on a walk, the one obnoxious jogger or dog walker is what you will most likely remember but lets also look at the positives. In general I have to say that most people are acting responsibly and its also quite nice to see more of the streets in Grove Park being taken up by runners and walkers in light of reduced traffic. Something to enjoy whilst it lasts.

'gyms will be last on the list of places to return to normal operations.'There'll be plenty of places behind gyms, notably theatre and cinema.Just before they were ordered to close, my gym halved the number of people allowed in each class and had only alternate machines open in the gym proper. I assume that this is how they will reopen.

I think part of the issue in gyms is not just the spacing, but the cleaning down of the kit between each user. Some gyms can't even keep toilets clean and serviceable, so i'm not sure I'd trust them to disinfect equipment handles/buttons/floor areas etc. every 10 minutes or so.

Whilst i agree that the runner mentioned was extremely rude, as I jogger I try very hard to keep my distance, running on the road or stopping to allow pedestrians to pass. But, it works both ways, twice whilst walking yesterday, i had to ask two couples walking side by side to please allow me to share the path. This morning I notice that the residents of Corney Reach have but up notices 'banning' everyone except walkers. No single group is a fault, just be considerate to others. Thanks

Well said Tim. I'm a runner and move oput of pedestrians way as best I can but some walkers are a selfish nightmare, taking up the whole of the path. Everyone needs to be considerate.

I am a cyclist and am very well mannered and yesterday when I was walking a footpath I found that cyclists using the footpath were extremely well mannered and polite and thanked us for moving to one side. A few even dismounted and allowed us to pass and gave a polite smile. Joggers on the other hand.........vile!!

Hardly nonsense at all.The clue is in the name 'footpath', Steve.It is not a bicycle path..They should use the road and dismount when on the footpath.I very rarely see a cyclist doing this.

This is a problem across many parts of London. I work just off the Embankment and walking  to and from the tube, I am regularly faced with a regiment of joggers. I've worked in or around this area for many years and have to say it's reaching a point where you will shortly need a jogging lane. That said, to date no one has yelled anything like this.

Why does it have to be the jogger who take evasive action? I’m regularly forced to stop or jog into the road by unthinking pedestrians. Can’t we all be considered and share the path?

"Can’t we all be considered and share the path?"No. You shouldn't be jogging on paths. Stay home or jog where you are 100% certain to not come anywhere close to others. It is because of the lax attitude to social distancing that the UK now has the highest death rate in Europe and second highest in the world. It is appalling. It is the morons shouting MOVE, MOVE, MOVE coupled with a soft and wet government who are responsible for the high death rate.  I am astounding by the numbers of people having friends and families visiting and all the hugging and kissing going on because they may not have seen them for a few weeks. THICK, THICK, THICK!! DENSE, DENSE, DENSE.

And it is because of fools like Greenborough who, like his hero Trump, refuse to acknowledge the severity of Covid, and refuse to  support social distancing and STAYING HOME, that the UK now has the highest number of deaths per capita in the world.  UK citizens are dying like flies and the death rate still increasing and the morons ignore the simple rules. Why oh why is the UK always so far behind the rest of the world when it comes to basic common sense.

This made me laugh. Thanks. I agree that the lax attitude to social distancing is worrying. Especially when it is displayed by the PM, a minister and an advisor, but to appear to blame the outbreak on joggers using the pavement seems slightly deranged. Also, there’s no need to shout. Amusing nonetheless.
