For some reason, my browser won't open the website, but I'll keep trying. For anyone who wants to see live action egg-sitting, the female coot is currently sitting on about 6 eggs on the nest below the bridge over the lake in Chiswick House Grounds. The last hatching, about 6 weeks ago, produced six or seven tiny chicks, of which, I think, only one survives. Another batch seem due any time now - let's hope more of them make it beyond the first few days.
