Anyone know which local dentists are working at present ?They seem to be closed down

Many are triaging over the phone ie 'Following new guidelines, we are only able to provide telephone triage for patients with urgent needs'.This one is open and is not too far, North End Road.https://www.nhsdentist.com/

'Urgent needs' is - apparently - being pretty much unable to breathe due to a dental issue. Saw a guy on the news who spent two hours yanking out a tooth. Ouch.Hope you find some help.

I rang mine few weeks ago- was told to leave a message with name, number and problem and I would be called back.  I have broken least 1/2 a  tooth and it quite painful....noone has called me back.

LucyMany Pharmacies sell a temporary filling substance for teeth  I think Campbells on CHR near the Fruit and Veg stall still do. Worth a try, toothache is really miserable.

At the moment no serious pain but temp filing sounds good - preferable to pliars ! I am sure my DD uses North End Rd one -waiting for her to confirm

My husband spoke to 111 about tooth ache. Seems unlikely you’ll be seen but he got some sympathetic advice

Dentists will prescribe antibiotics for suspected infectioneven if you're not seen.

111 sent a relation to a dentist in Shepherds Bush, who was on their list of emergency dentists.When they arrived at the dentist, he said the tooth needs pulling out, but I cannot do that as I haven't got the correct PPE.Nothing was done, no antibiotics, no temporary filling. They were referred to a dental hospital in Camden, still waiting for them to contact them two weeks on.Northwick park hospital dental unit closed and any unit run by them.Sorry but the dentist in shepherds Bush should be taken off the 111 list as I think he's taking payment from the NHS under false pretenses.

The dentist opposite Chiswick mainline station on Burlington Lane seems to be open with a notice on the door and there is a receptionist there I’m not sure what their name or number is

Seems odd that we salute NHS staff asked to risk their lives to support patients who might have the bug but dentists have stepped away from their responsibilities.Or am I misunderstanding something?

I think that it's a matter of risk vs. benefit.  A dentist will be bending right over the mouth of someone who may or may not be infected - so is therefore at high risk of infection.  On top of that, the aerosol effect of drilling will spray saliva around the surgery - potentially infecting  not only the dentist but also any assistant and potentially leaving virus on hard surfaces meaning the surgery needs disinfecting.  So you weigh those risks (including dentist and assistant possibly spreading the virus further) against the benefit - a filling hasn't quite the same benefit as looking after an infected patient in an ICU

Exactly.  I don't blame them.  But even in 'normal' times dentists can be very booked up.  In the past when I was in agonizing pain and couldn't be seen quickly by the dentist I asked my Dr if they could prescribe amoxicillin until I could get there and they did. Took a good week to work but it did, thank goodness and meant the inflammation was under control by the time I saw the dentist and they got me in for a root canal pretty quickly after that. Most dentists won't prescribe antibiotics without seeing you and not being able to sleep for severe toothache is up there with pretty much the most awful things that everyday life can throw at you.
