Lockdown cocktails

So, Saturday evening in Lockdown Land chez nous has become a cocktail evening. Negronis here (gin, vermouth and Campari). What’s everyone else treating themselves to?

SJ > "What’s everyone else treating themselves to?"Covid Busters (Domestos, Toilet Duck and a blast of UV light). You'll never drink another cocktail after trying one of those doozies!

John Whitworth ● 2384d

Not exactly a cocktail but a perry spritzer with crushed ice and a slice of lime.

Ben Gemmingen ● 2384d

Buckets of red Rioja, Stewart.Enjoy yours.

Roger Talbot ● 2384d

Bought a bottle of Hendrick's yesterday in my first order from Waitrose Rapid (hooray, incidentally, it's the first time in 6 weeks of trying that I've managed to buy any groceries online) I too like a good negroni, but I think the Hendrick's would be wasted on it. Will settle for a G&T with Fevertree Mediterranean Tonic.

Robert Fish ● 2384d

I might give the Dettol Covidbuster a swerve on this occasion. But never say never. Cheers all!

Stewart Jones ● 2384d

Quinine cocktail, purely for medicinal purposes.Maybe a splash of Dettol.

Steven Trembath ● 2384d

Needs must....

Stewart Jones ● 2384d

A Corona Beer, with a splash of Virus Vodka.https://virusvodka.com

Ken Munn ● 2384d

I like the sound of that

Stewart Jones ● 2384d

Sounds like a drink from student days!

Stewart Jones ● 2384d

There will always be Rioja in the house.

Stewart Jones ● 2384d

...followed by a hand sanitiser highball.

Ben Gemmingen ● 2384d

Perfect. The ending is always as important as the beginning.

Stewart Jones ● 2384d

I hope this thread is not going to become too blokey. Testosterone in cocktails is not such a good thing.

Stewart Jones ● 2384d

Treble rum and cokeSorry, but thats as far as i go

Julian Pavey ● 2384d

Rum and coke! Greece 1989. Oh the memories!

Stewart Jones ● 2384d

Absolutely do not waste Hendricks on a cocktail. We’re all buying Fevertree. Whatever happened to Schweppes? A good friend insists on gin and soda.....

Stewart Jones ● 2384d

Half a pint of port Talbot and half of Brown ale with a dash of Fish sauce, going to call it Dullard, cheers

James Smith-Jones ● 2384d

Tea, the only one I can drink without getting a migraine is Bucks Fizz, not had one for years though.

Janice Evans ● 2384d

Yes, it lacks the samedi soirée feel. But each to his own. Cheers.

Stewart Jones ● 2384d

Stewart Jones ● 2384d

There is one for you here, Janice. Santé.

Stewart Jones ● 2384d

You know I like to throw you off a bit Steart.

Janice Evans ● 2384d

Do envy those who can drink without being ill, years ago another one not a cocktail, but a lovely cooling drink was Guinness with Indian Tonic Water, it was lovely but I was so ill with sick migraine the next day would never touch it again.

Janice Evans ● 2384d

Too scared of Stuey Boy to risk a mention of Kerr Royale, Mr Smith-Jones?

Roger Talbot ● 2383d

I am partial to my own mix which i call The Antidote. 1 measure of vodka, one measure of Blackfriars rose and pomegranate gin, top up with Fentemans Elderflower and rose tonic water. Shake and pour over ice and a slice of lime.  It is the antidote for dulled taste buds and it smells of sunshine and flowers.

Caroline Carney ● 2383d

Pink gin with pink grapefruit juice -  and bags of ice.

Vanessa Smith ● 2383d

I’m glad to see that people are having cocktails at lunchtime on a Sunday. I peaked  last night. Carry on!

Stewart Jones ● 2383d

Didn’t realise you were spokes person for Stuey Boy  mr Pollock!

James Smith-Jones ● 2383d

Must admit the  dullard cocktail had a bad case of diarrhoea!

James Smith-Jones ● 2383d

Oh , thanks for sharing!!

Stewart Jones ● 2383d

I'm a G&T lady at heart through and through.  Love most Gins as long as over 40%, Sipsmiths if feeling flush with Fever Tree, or Sapphire and Schweppes - never ever slimline but always with slice of lemon.  Come 6pm I'm off.  Cheers folks!A spell of living in my 20ties in Bermuda got me going on Dark and Stormies - big slug of dark Jamacian rum in long glass topped up with proper ginger beer with ice of course.  Dangerous drink - fine for several hours, then suddenly your legs go - can't get up for next 8 hrs at least.

Jennifer Selig ● 2383d

Just getting the ingredients ready to make tropical escape cocktail to make the most of the last day of nice weather, but the clock seems to be going very slowly to 5pm!

James Smith-Jones ● 2383d

That's because you're full of shit.

Roger Talbot ● 2383d

Hendricks gin, Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic, frozen sliced lemon and lots of ice. Yum!

Chris Blackwell ● 2383d

That's a nasty comment on this light-hearted and fun thread - NOT needed here Mr Roger Talbot.

Jennifer Selig ● 2383d

I think a Dark and Stormy makes my list of ‘Cocktails I must try one day’ although the after effects might be a little extreme....

Stewart Jones ● 2383d

You are quite right, Jennifer, and I apologise  to everyone. In my defence,I was enjoying everyones' contributions but I do not sit quietly by when the attention-seeking manchild Mr Smith-Jones traduces me, my friend Michael Brown and Paul Fisher (or is it Robert Fish - he calls both of them Fiah or Fisherman) with his puerile and offensive contributions.I refuse to believe that you and other people could possibly have been interested to know of what his cocktail reminded him of. And if you don't know, read his  vulgar contribution above and ask how you would feel.

Roger Talbot ● 2383d

'I'm a G&T lady at heart through and through.  Love most Gins as long as over 40%, Sipsmiths if feeling flush with Fever Tree, or Sapphire and Schweppes - never ever slimline but always with slice of lemon.'Agree - there's nothing like it especially on a hot Summer's day - my choice is Bombay Sapphire or Tanqueray and absolutely and always a 'full-fat tonic' - none of that slimline nonsense.

Vanessa Smith ● 2383d

Well, it was fun while it lasted. So next Saturday, depending on the weather, I’m pondering a margarita.....

Stewart Jones ● 2383d

Rather liked the sound of your Negronis but what vermouth, Italian dry Noilly Prat, or the red sweet one?  I've only got Noilly Prat in stock.

Jennifer Selig ● 2383d

It has to be a red vermouth. Go for  quality  - Martini Rossi will only do if there is nothing else available!

Stewart Jones ● 2383d
