Thanks to all who responded, and I can report some progress! This morning I actually spoke to a human being, who told me :a) that my Tivo box had been cancelled at my request. b) that I have another in my bedroom. c) that the cancellation is irreversible, and d) that all I have to do is switch them round, and all will be well. a) is untrue. About a year ago, I requested the removal of the bedroom Tivo box because I never use it and yet pay for it. The engineer who came made some excuse for leaving it in place. Perhaps this was the cancellation referred to.So b) was true, but why wait a year to act on this and to cancel the wrong box? And why spring it on me without notification? c) If it can be cancelled remotely, surely this can be reversed? And d) I have looked at the possibility of switching the boxes around, but this is clearly not a job for an amateur, but requires an engineer. Shades of 'There's a hole in my bucket, dear Liza' and so on.By coincidence, my e-mails showed a questionnaire for appraisal of Virgin's services. My responses were terse. I can appreciate that these hard times mean that normally available services have to be limited, and this is a First-World problem, but for most viewing I'm limited t the kitchen TV, not connected to Virgin. And my DVD player is still connected, so my large collection of films, operas, ballets, documentaries can still be enjoyed. But 'when they sound the last All-Clear,as the song of my youth said -watch out Virgin!
