I'm not sure the police get it. A PC and a WPC came to take a statement from me today. I let them into the hall, but the PC asked if they could sit down to take the statement. So I reluctantly took them into the sitting room, and made sure I sat more than 2metres away from each of them. At the end of the statement, which the PC typed on a tablet, he passed me the tablet to sign it. The stylus didn't work, so he leaned over me to fiddle with it and I felt his breath on my face. So much for social distancing. I would have expected the police to have coronavirus protocols re taking statements in people's houses.
