How about we clap for all the supermarket staff, delivery drivers and everyone who are putting their health at risk to help us

How about we all just treat them with respect and show our appreciation when we shop - why do we need to do all this impersonal, unoriginal clapping?

Hello Annabel -  welcome and don't be put off - this forum has a bit of a reputation for being rough.  I agree that it's nice to thank those people who are working very hard and putting their lives at risk for us.  This morning I thanked the dustbin man as I was so pleased that they had been and collected.  I know that they are short of collectors and I got a really lovely smile in return.It's a bit of a shock to many that business just can't run as usual.

Bit rough?  Sea of piranhas, many of which lurk for days, weeks and months and then surface to devastate the unwary.  When you have been on here a long time you know them - only a handful of the posters on hear sre real nasties. But there are some.  Just don't read their posts and you'll be fine.

Yes You are right Annabelle, don't get put off, just sit back and follow some of the threads and you find there are some out there who are "very rough" it is always the same, some are rather patronizing and some always want o have the last word. But overall most are helpful. It should not stop you to post

I agree.  There are loads of tribes, trolls, and mischief makers here but that’s the price of it being such a lively and effective forum.  Check out the snail-paced ActonW3 for contrast.  There are also several very smart, well-informed and witty contributors.  And if you ever need help there are countless posters who will come forward.  Stay with us Annabel.
