there is a petition to suspend council-tax during the Corona/Covid 19 lock-down, please copy and paste, as I am not "techy" enough to provide a link: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/303274

I won't be signing it. Councils need this source of income to pay their staff and maintain essential services like social care and refuse collection. Their reserves can only go so far.
N V Brooks ● 2409d
Surely we need the councils services more then ever these days and how will many cope when the larger bills come in once the suspension has ended?
Paul Fisher ● 2409d
I agree with the lads.
Susan Kelly ● 2409d
Bless you! I haven't been called a lad for years!
As if goverment petitions are going to be dealt with. Firstly you have to reach the numer required, then a group of mps sit down and discuss what petitons are worthy of getting on the debate ladder in the commons. It will be 6 months before they even sit down over any petitions i would imagine

What a dreadful idea. All those who can afford to pay must pay. Ditto all taxes.
David Lovegrove ● 2409d
Totally agree Mr Brooks.
Claire Moran ● 2409d
Indeed. Seem to be some who are out for nowt as we say up North.
I won't be signing as previously said our Council needs the money to provide services

Seems Chiswick folks is well off (arent you lucky!), but there will be many families hard hit in the coming weeks, by all means those who can pay should but other should be given a chance a suspension and pay this rates Feb/March 2021, Lots of families need food-banks already in the best of times.

People with low income can apply for council tax reduction and the government has also created an additional £500m hardship fund to support reductions for those most affected by the coronavirus. The rest of us should be valuing the services that we receive from the Council more than ever.
