International space station

Someone might have some propper data for london but with the skies possibly clear it might give you something extra to do. The bonus is the lack of planes during the night but an increase in cargo flights. The Night Sky app gives you notifications of when it is due to pass. It came over last night but I don't think it was clear enough to see. Great views of Venus and a crescent moon still.

During the post 9/11 lockdown an enterprising meteorologist in the US  did some measurements of what the removal of all that water vapour emitted by planes did.  Nighttime temperatures fell (less cloud) while daytime temperatures rose.  Wonder if the same sort of measurements are now being done world-wide?

What a great opportunity this is to detect changes in the atmosphere and on the ground and in the water, and animal behaviour. I gather water in the lagoon at Venice is clear. I myself notice significant increases in foxes and ferral cats and even pet cats; perhaps they are venturig further afield?  Does anyone notice any changes yet?

But are the ISS crew self-isolating ? Does the virus spread at the same speed and cross the same distances in zero gravity ? I think we should be told.

If I was on the ISS the last thing I would want is to come back until the crisis was over.

Air is noticeably cleaner. After the rain yesterday all the wet grass and shrubs smelled fresh.

If you are on twitter Virtual Astro gives regular updates on passes including the ISS. Apparently a LOT of satellites have been visible over the last 2 nights due to less pollution.
