Is the building activity at the Arts Educational Schools really “essential”?

The responsible thing to do is stay at home unless you’re a key worker.  At least, that is is my understanding. However, the building works at The Arts Educational School in Bath Road seem to be going at full throttle today... the crane, workers and everything.  Workers will need to travel here by public transport.  So much for community responsibility.  This is putting everyone at risk!!

Hounslow Council are at present working on some of their properties where I live - we have contractors tootling around without a care in the world and completely ignoring the distancing advice. As this is a residential area shouldn't this be put on hold?

Construction is allowed to continue but with new restrictions (see link below). I have raised both issues raised here so far, and other construction issues in and near Chiswick. Residents' protection from the risks of Covid must not be compromised. If you see anything else that isn't happening as it should, please email one of your local councillors so they can report it for action. It was raised in PMQs today - Johnson just said people should obey the guidance to work from home. I am struggling to see how that could work for those employed on a building site.

It might be that they are doing some work which will enable them to leave the premises secure, before they pack up.

Construction work is permitted as it cannot be done at home, and understandably, construction workers will continue to turn up for work until the government comes up with some other way of paying them.  I know some big housebuilding companies have closed down their sites, but that's probably because the bottom's fallen out of their business rather than out of any consideration for their workers or the general population.

And the construction works are STILL ongoing.  The workers on site have to travel to Chiswick to work, almost certainy using public transport.  The same public transport which is used by REAL key workers, including health workers, delivery drivers, supermarket staff etc, thereby making it harder for those people to keep the requisute 2m apart and stay safe.I have phone the AES twice, but perhaps unsurprisingly, have not returned my call.
