Sainsbury's - Is it safe to return?

I drove past on Sunday and the car park didn't seem to be as packed as it has been on weekends previously. Is the spate of panic buying over and is it safe to go back into the store without social distancing? I'm working on the assumption that using the self scan with gloves at the store will be a safer way to shop than the alternatives.

WellFrom social media and radio,no social distancing being apllied outside supermarkets this morning before they open. I very much doubt many are applying social distancing whe in a line for payment. As to if they are busy,ive not been out yet but self scanning is a better option. Thanks Julian. I found the app on the phone a bit awkward to use and the signal inside the store is terrible. Gloves will reduce the risk of cross infection from the scanner.

I was in there last Friday and it wasn’t that busy, no longer wait at check out than normal. However many shelves were empty, no eggs for example. Impossible to effectively socially distance. We should be grateful to the workers on checkout who are obviously exposed to lots of people. It crossed my mind that they could fix Perspex shields up directly in front of the spot where the check out person sits to give some protection.

You dont use a cashier when self scanning Janice. You scan while shopping,you put the items in your own bags while going around and you pay at a self scan point.Hey,those worried its extra protection. Turn it insdie out,pick up the scanner and turn it back and use.

There is free WiFi in the store as I agree that the signal is terrible.

Don't know about Sainsburys but ALDI in Hounslow back to normal, in fact if anything it was far quieter than a usual Monday. We were able to do an ordinary shop, plenty of fresh veg. eggs, cheese and nearly everything else apart from the dreaded toilet rolls, has someone found a secret recipe for eating these I wonder? Is the message finally getting through?

Went to Chiswick Sainsbury's this morning, reasonably quiet, some shelves still empty but still managed my normal Monday morning shopBe careful but let us all stop panicking
