Running along the river

Its a beautiful morning and there were a lot of runners, walkers on the Southside  of the Thames must have been at least 100 that passed each other in the last hour. Its quite narrow,  I just don't see how you can achieve 2 metres distance nor can you do this on the Strand on the Green and what worries me more is if you are running then you are breathing heavily perhaps with more air more droplets?Seems like a real risk to me to even just go for a walk or run and yet I feel like its needed.  I am really not sure what the solution is apart from perhaps a run at dawn.How is everyone else coping and tackling our 'new life'?

A runner very kindly forced his way between myself and my son while we were taking the dog for a walk along the south side of tow path yesterday. Pretty ignorant, still he didn't have to slow down at a choke point so not all bad i guess.

Run the residential streets of Chiswick. I doubt that there are more than a couple of people a minute walking past our window, and that's when it's busy!

True Ken,  actually there are some wide roads in Grove Park where worst case you can just divert on the road and you will get 2 metres like that.

I have been cycling daily (I have decided now to stop and stay in) but avoiding the riverside because I've never seen it so crowded. Dan Mason Drive and the rest of the perimeter of Dukes Meadows have been OK - not many people and plenty of width.

This is where the public are getting mixed messages from the government, https://publichealthmatters.blog.gov.uk/2020/03/04/coronavirus-covid-19-what-is-social-distancing/"Coronaviruses can be spread when people with the virus have close, sustained contact with people who are not infected. This typically means spending more than 15 minutes within two metres of an infected person, such as talking to someone for instance."Yet we're now supposed to be worried if we pass within 2m of someone for a couple of seconds. The government need to explain what they mean by keeping 2m apart. Is someone supposed to step into the middle of the road every time they pass by on the pavement?Was this previous advice rubbish? If so they should stand up and clearly tell us the previous advice was wrong and should now be ignored. If it's not wrong they should stop people worrying about it and allow us to go out and get some fresh air and exercise.

Michael,What is the point of your post? We are talking about the ability to run/walk outside against a highly contagious virus for which there is no treatment or vaccine yet, this being the key difference
