So instead of going to a restaurant, you order food to be delivered. There's the people making the food who are all in close contact and who are travelling to/from work, the person preparing your food then gives it to a delivery person who is handling lots of food to lots of different people in lots of places all day. Personally, I feel much 'safer', both individually and collectively, walking to a restaurant, wearing gloves at all time, keeping a sensible distance from people, not touching surfaces or my face when I'm out, and then washing my hands as soon as I get in before I touch anything. But I do agree that if we do go down the full lockdown route it has to be a "full" lockdown - there's no point having a scenario where people can still go out to a supermarket, or order a takeaway for delivery. At the same time, the information from Lombardy and Italy isn't exactly robustly demonstrating that lockdowns are effective. And is anyone factoring in how the virus is an organism with a lifespan ? - might it be that, lockdown or no lockdown, in a certain timescale the rate of infection declines naturally ?.
