In support of Campbell’s Pharmacy

I’ve read another thread on the forum about Campbell’s Pharmacy which motivates me to create a new thread to support them.  12 years ago when trying to source some very very expensive medication for my wife (not yet approved on the NHS by NICE) the kind young pharmacist at Campbell’s offered to supply it to us at their cost or just above cost.  This medicine was a long shot for her and a last resort but unbelievably expensive over the long run in the event that it worked.  To pay the normal price in the UK for the stuff would have been like paying another very large mortgage and our other option was to attempt to purchase it by mail order from Canada.  The pharmacist (who I think might be one of the sons) was very kind to us and suggested that buying mail order from Canada was not a great idea and he helped us through a difficult period.  In the years since I have noticed that many products are cheaper in Campbells than at larger chains along the high road.  Also, the service is usually quicker.  I think they offer an excellent service and I personally want to thank them for providing their service to Chiswick.

Indeed, and when challenged recently about the cost of eg masks and sanitiser, the facts revealed that their masks were those recommended by the World Health Organisation specifically for Coronavirus so obviously more expensive than the three-ply virus-ineffective version on sale through a major chain - and being sold at cost price; the price of the sanitiser was also at cost from the wholesaler and without eg VAT and overheads. All our pharmacists are extremely community-minded and community-spirited. Let's value and praise them for responding to this exceptional circumstance.

That said, I was charged 14.99 for a 70cl bottle of sanitiser at another pharmacist on CHR. Possibly not profiteering but making a very healthy profit nonetheless .
