The Crown

....appears to have finally got its act together-- popped in last night and it was rammed with a " we are all going to die sometime" air about it. Superb duo with a guitar and lady singing lite-jazz perched on the stairsive been pretty meeeh about it since they opened however i think they seem to finally have got the seating options and configuration sortedhave they changed the management around or what?Still PAINfully slow to get a drink ( the table service was a brilliant concept that carvossoos had ) and they staff seem to look terrified of making a mistake most of the time, however its looking alot betterDfood is ok there however very £££ey

Agree about the service - although it's not been a case of the staff having a fear of making a mistake, simply the the Managers don't know how to run a bar. When I've visited on an afternoon there's an equal number of staff to customer ratio - but the avoidance of eye contact and awareness of neighbouring table from the waiters is questionable. Plus a preference to chat amongst colleagues (facilitated by Management who rarely seem to serve)We raised it once and the feedback was that they weren't geared up for table service for drinks only and so the dozen people in who simply wanted to drink had to get the attention of 4 staff who didn't want to engage.Last visit was a Friday 4pm and the place was dead - over the road the usual suspects were thriving. Not sure the prospect of music alone is enough to tempt people back in, but I've a fondness for Carvosso's (RIP) and the building / garden so may try one more time....
