Eddie Jones 13 v 16

I know we have a few rugby fans on here but are you also disgusted by Eddie Jones's comments after the game. Does this man want to drag the beautiful game into the cesspit that is football? RFU should have red carded him today, no ifs or buts. Shame on him.

I used to put it down to a quirky 'sense of humour'  but the remarks brought the game into disrepute.
If there was an equivalent sanction to cite a manager then Eddie Jones should face it.
Delighted to see that Marler and Lawes have both been cited. Marler should be ashamed, that was not 'dark arts' it was foul 'foul play'.

I am surprised Eddie Jones has not come out and said, oh don't know what the fuss is all about Marler. FFS the man assaulted another player during a major sporting event, unacceptable.

I think Farrell was lucky not to get a Yellow early on in the game. He pushes the boundaries far too often and as Captain should be setting a better example. And what was Genge doing? Only been on the field a few minutes - taking one for the team? Or is that the England philosophy - stop them at all costs if we have a big enough lead? Tuilagi made no attempt to use his arms so what Jones is complaining about I don't know.

Eddie Jones needs to ask himself why England were down to 13. Discipline is as much part of the game as any other facet and foul play usually throws points the way of the opposition. Marler’s attempt to provoke AWJ would surely have earned him a card of some sort had it been spotted at the time.

All sorts of dark arts go on inside the scrum (where they can't be seen), but for Marler to go for a grope in full view of the cameras was both unsporting and incredibly stupid.

Indeed, I posted about the 'dark arts' but Marler was simply stupid to do this in full view of the cameras and Tuilagi was either the clumsiest tackler on the pitch or it was a deliberate 'take-out'. Have to say that I was impressed with the Scots performance and also by the reaction of Fabien Galthie when Mohamed Haouas was red-carded. Unlike the whining Jones Galthie was clear post-match that this was something that would not be tolerated.

Indeed.  In the last 6 months France have had two players sent off in key games (the Scotland game and the World Cup QF against Wales).The French coaching team must be incredibly frustrated how momentary stupidity from players is holding back the huge talent in the team.

Marler. Too many knocks to the head? Or does he like tampering with locks?Eddie Jones is meeting with the CEO of RFU in a few days to discuss his future. There are whispers of Baxter replacing him instead of any contract extension.

Eddie was completely wrong.  The ref was not biased, just completely incompetent - about the only thing he got right were the 2 cards (Manu's was a clear red, and the ref had warned Eng that next penalty was a yellow for Genge's).Marler should get a very long ban, anything less than 6 months would be a disgrace.The Lawes citing is weird, it was not even close to the worst high tackle in the game, in fact Lawes missed AWJ completely as AWJ was both ducking and falling at the time - I think AWJ ended up head butting Lawes' stomach

Tuilagi pulled out.  If he had used his arms he would have clotheslined North.North was falling after Slade's tackle.  There has to be some common sense in the laws.  Maybe that was a sending off by the letter of the law, but in that case the law is wrong.  There was no malicious intent.

Watch it again. When contact is made, Tuilagi is ahead of North and his right arm is by his side when he hits North with his shoulder. No effort to use his arms. If North hadn't ducked his head into his chest when he saw him coming I doubt he would have ever played again.

His right arm is by his side because he's pulled out.  If he put his arm up, he would have taken North's head off - yet he gets in trouble because he didn't take his head off.There has to be some allowance in the law for a player who is falling or ducking as the tackle is made.

Al, as a player you have a duty of care for your fellow player and he made no attempt to make a legal tackle, he was going for a torpedo challenge which is just dangerous, no if's, arms to his side charging with the shoulder, only one outcome= injury to the other player. In his defence, he knew straight away he had made a bad mistake and looked upset and his apology said it all, red card and that is the end of it. to try and blame it on the ref is utter bull shark.

He didn't have his arm extended at all at any time just prior to impact so how could he have pulled out of the "tackle"?It was purely an attempt to hit North into touch via a body slam.

Come on girls, it's rugby!I don't think the referee was up to much and it's not the first time that one has been criticised.As for Mahler, he got caught out by the cameras. He deserves to be disciplined but nobody died. It was funny though.Manu' was unfortunate. A clumsy tackle made worse by North accidentally slipping at the same time. No argument about the card. He did have the good grace to apologise to GN as he left the field. No comment about Lawes as haven't seen it.For those of you who have played rugby you know that transgressions  often happen on both sides simultaneously. The ref's job is to keep it even over all the game.  I don't think the ref., managed during this game.It's a much safer game than when you probably played. Lighten up!

Not entirely sure how "dangerous" Marler's grope was. It didn't appear to hurt AWJ at all. I suppose it is strictly speaking against rugby laws, but as the previous appender said, "Come on girls, it's rugby!". There's a whole more going on that is a pile more dangerous.I thought Gareth Thomas summed it up nicely when the incident was discussed afterwards on TV...."If I'd realised this sort of thing went on, I wouldn't have stopped playing..."

hang on a minute Mr Cope, if someone had grabbed my todger during a match i can assure you he would have experienced a left uppercut. How would you feel if someone did the same thing to your daughter or son in a bar, no, no no no, unacceptable, now or 20 years ago, unacceptable.England under EJ has seen Farrell remonstrate with the ref for every decision which has undermined the ref during a game and i have seen this feeding through schoolboy rugby. In my day, remonstrate with the ref, dropped next match, no arguments. as for Manu, let us agree to disagree but that was not a tackle.The ref i thought handled it properly, made sure GN was ok, separated both teams, made sure Manu did not get a thumping, engage with the TMO his line judges and decision made, so well done ref IMO

Marler got off lightly, banned for 10 weeks.
At the same time, the lacklustre RFU has said that 'it does not condone' Jones's comments without actually criticising him.

Oh well, RFU now opened the floodgates for abuse to refs from players and touch line dads as in football, nice work.

The same RFU that is withdrawing all funding from the Championship clubs because they 'failed to meet targets'. Every Championship chairman to a man has said that the RFU never issued the targets the clubs are now accused of failing to meet. You couldn't make it up.
