Sainsbury’s

Anyone else noticed the shelf’s in Sainsbury’s are running low.  Spoke to an assistant and she advised it is down to the virus and people are panic buying x

An awful lot of people seem to live on ready-meals. They will need some longer life food. Many people don't seem to run a store cupboard just a fridge.  This is a good time to be more experimental.  How else will new recipes be invented?www.westlondonwaste.gov.uk has some help and links

I was in Sainsburys Richmond this morning about 8am, several singles and couples with loaded trollies especially large packs of toilet rolls. Mentioned this to checkout lady who said Monday was a major panic day, they sold out of tissues  early but the hand sanitizers were sold out in the first hour. Some were buying packs of 36 at a time.Seemed plenty of everything else while I walked around doing my normal shopping.On a different subject. I also noticed numerous men wheeling toddlers around whilst shopping. I thought that was a major change since a few years ago.

So liquid soap dispensers are proving hard to buy right now?Hmmm. If only there was some sort of alternative soap to wash your hands with, a solid version in blocks, say.

Agree Richard, I still use those solid block things, but it was the small bottles of sanitizer stuff that she was talking about. Not liquid soap.

For the past few weeks when using the car park, we are stopped on entry to get a ticket but the exit barriers are always up!  Is there a logical reason?  Why do we have to take a ticket if not needed on exit? Yesterday I noticed a couple of people paying at the machine for their parking.....again why if no need to insert the tickets at the barrier?

This does appear to happen quite frequently.I have assumed that they are changing from the situation where all the barriers are up (say because there was a fault) to the situation where the barriers are down.During the changeover period (which will be quite long) the cars that have entered without a ticket must be allowed to exit without hindrance but the cars entering need to collect a ticket as the exit barriers will come down sometime (maybe hours) in the future.

Maybe either the barriers are unreliable or too many people are forgetting to get their tickets validated.  Also did I not see that you have pay at the customer service counter if you have not spent enough in the shop because the machines are not working.

There is a risk that cars may still be monitored to ensure they don't overstay the two hours max but I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket. My guess would be that they raise the barriers when there aren't sufficient parking attendants around to monitor them and stop huge queues building up when someone has forgot to validate.

Think last week I did notice the pay machine was out of order and presumed that was why the barriers were up but as I said yesterday the machine was working as saw two people paying.  I just find it odd, and a waste of paper, that we have to q to get in but can just drive out.  Surely they could, as has been done before, open both sets of barriers until any issues have been resolved.  Agree about the monitoring although never seen anyone checking the cars, unless their are cameras?

There are EuroParks employees checking the cars all day. No cameras in Chiswick but if you park in the car park of the Manor Road Richmond store which has no barriers, there is a registration plate recognition system that logs you as you enter and leave.
