kitchen recommendation

My kitchen needs replacing and I wonder if anyone has had good experience with some of the cheaper suppliers. Ive been told B & Q and Howdens, also Magnet but would appreciate any feedback. Thanks

Forget safely Magnet\B@Q\Wikes\John Lewis etc and use the newlinekitchens.co.uk They deliver to Chiswick. The cost of our 19 unit galley kitchen was £3.5k + £3k granite worktop + £3k appliances + £1.5k building and fitting labour. Impossible to beat. You can come around to see it if you like... All done 20 months ago

I can't stand the Wren Kitchens TV advert, so that would put me off using them in case the fitters were as daft as the folk in the ad!

Paul Howells is an absolutely first class kitchen fitter.  I don't think you could find a better one.  07769 119 095.

Not for everyone but years ago we measured up what we wanted ourselves and ordered units plat pack and put them together ourselves and if i remember saved ourselves quite some money.We also installed them ourselves but you could go down that route of assembling  and employ a fitter. As i say,not for everyone but a huge saving just in flat pack form and assemble yourselves. The only item that was cut from templates and installed by a pro was the glass tops that weighed a ton

I'd highly recommend Howdens - we have used them for over 20 bathrooms now and they last so well and are great quality (and a couple of mil thicket for the unit doors as they use a better quality MDF under the coating).  I'd then recommend Artur - artu.yus11@gmail.com (tell him David asked you to call him) for the work - without a doubt one of the best, cleanest, most skilled and most professional builder I have worked with ever (and we have done a lot of this work!) - very reasonable prices too!

Howdens have upped their game with there cabinets and accessory's.But its all down to how good the builder or fitter is who fits it.I have had one completely botch kitchen with cabinets and worktops not joined correctly. Found out the kitchen was fitted by a brick layer, so you cannot blame Howdens.

Magnet do nice kitchens, but in my experience a number of the parts have come damaged and had to be sent back to be replaced.

Sean & Nigel are both right. The trick is to get a good fitter & then work hard together on the design & measurements. Wickes, Howdens & Magnet are fine, so is Ikea, although not much space for pipes behind the cabinets. But, again, if your fitter knows that, he can push the cabinets forward. Whatever you do, don't let Magnet or Ikea fit the kitchen for you! They will charge you about 2k & pay a fitter about £300! This fitter will have allowed a day to fit your kitchen & will not be prepared for any work outside his remit. If you would like any recommendations for good kitchen fitters PM me.

I regularly fit kitchens into properties and have used Wickes B&Q and Ikea.  All are good. It's all down to the person who does the fitting.  A kitchen is only as good as the person who fits.  Another reasonable priced kitchen company in Park Royal/Acton are Kings Kitchens

Second D.I.Y. kitchens, we actually went up to Yorkshire to see the kitchens, and we were very impressed. All units delivered ready to install, great choice.

We had our kitchen replaced last year and used Imaggio Interiors on Fishers Lane (at the end of Fishers up near Gail's). Very impressed,reasonable price, they supply and fit it all and can supply Neff appliances too at trade prices. They even sold our old kitchen on Ebay for us so it wasn't just put in a skip.Very happy customer.

I was told the cheaper suppliers go in cycles as to which is better quality.  When I had mine done about 9 years ago I got an IKEA one.  (if you go very late in the even you avoid the crowds)

We used Wimbledon Kitchens, a small independent kitchen maker who makes the kitchens to order in his workshop.  He is amazing value and you get exactly what you want made and fitted.  Pm me if you want more info.

I also used DIY kitchens which were absolutely brilliant. Measured up myself, ordered online, added the extras and then they came pre-made and ready to install. I've ordered from them twice now and have been extremely happy with the robust quality. Some quotes I had were anywhere between £16K and the cheapest being around £8K. Total cost to install myself from DIY Kitchens was around £3K for what is considered a very high-end kitchen with all the features. This didn't include the worktop or appliances by the way.

Wickes isn't bad at all. We had a Wickes kitchen for 14 years and only changed it for something sleeker. It was still in good nick though

The B&Q kitchens have come on leaps and bounds in the past few years and now rank highly.Howdens supply trade only and with Magnet you really have to watch the extras (shelves and handless extra as example).The trick I found was to find a really good kitchen fitter (mine retired last year else I would recommend him without hesitation) and then take your time to find exactly what you want.

I used http://www.diy-kitchens.com/ for mine - not the best of names but the kitchen units are great quality. They're smaller so take a personal interest too and good prices.
