"A fresh perspective on this classic tragedy"
April 16, 2024
The Questors Theatre is to present a modern staging of Shakespeare’s, Julius Caesar in a new production this Spring.
It’s a Questors debut for experienced director, Mark Oldknow, who has directed over 20 Shakespeare plays over his career.
Populism, polarisation and post-truth prevail as Caesar's power grows and conspirators plot his downfall. This timeless tale of honour and betrayal puts us at the heart of Roman democracy as the state is plunged into civil war.
The play runs from 26 April - 4 May in the Judi Dench Playhouse,
Alex Marker, Artistic Director says, “The Questors Theatre has over 100 Shakespearean productions under our belt – while Mark himself isn’t far behind! We’re thrilled to present this fresh and innovative interpretation, offering audiences a fresh perspective on this classic tragedy.
“At the heart of Julius Caesar lies a narrative as relevant today as it was in Shakespeare's time – the consequences of individuals going to great lengths for their beliefs. With a contemporary setting and a visionary director, we hope to breathe new life into Shakespeare's words while staying true to the essence of the story.”
Tickets for Julius Caesar are available on The Questors Theatre website and from the Box office at 020 8567 5184 and boxoffice@questors.org.uk.
All performances are at 7:45pm except Sunday April when there is a matinee at 2:30pm. There is no show on Monday 29 April.
Ticket prices range from £10 to £20 with child, season pass & concession prices available.
