Shortlisted in two categories in UK Festival Awards

The Hanwell Hootie has been nominated for a UK Festival Award in two categories.
The annual music event has been shortlisted for, ‘best metropolitan festival’ and also ‘best medium sized festival’.
The medium sized festival award goes an event with a daily capacity of between 10,000 – 39,999 and an estimated 25,000 attended this year’s Hootie over two days.
The best metropolitan festival is given to the event which has ‘made the city its own’.
The awards are decided by a public vote and Hanwell Hootie attendees are encouraged to participate. Those voting also get a chance to win a £100 Amazon voucher.

2022 was the free festival’s 10th anniversary as well as being an important landmark for the music industry being the 60th anniversary of the launch of the revolutionary and now world-famous Marshall Amp for guitars, making this year its 60th anniversary. The Hanwell shop’s early customers included Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townshend, Ronnie Wood, Jimmy Page and other now-legendary rock guitarists.
The Hanwell Hootie was started in 2012 by local people, with the support of the company, to celebrate the life of Jim Marshall (or ‘The Father of Loud’, as he became known) who died that year. And the first festival was held in April 2013 to mark the year anniversary of Jim’s passing.
The 2013 Hootie showcased 13 bands in three ‘official’ pubs, but such was the enthusiasm for more music that the ‘Hootie Fringe’ was introduced and every bar or pub in Hanwell was involved. Over the past 10 years, the festival has grown and become an intrinsic part of the London music scene. It has showcased hundreds of new, young and emerging bands from across the UK and beyond.
