Local residents in Pitshanger have been urged to send their comments over proposals for a major new development in the village.

The site is in a prominent position on the corner of Pitshanger Lane and Kent Gardens and is currently a purpose built care home - Kent Lodge.

The developers, Base Green Holdings 2 Ltd, submitted an application and distributed information for their proposals for the '' Demolition of existing building and the erection of a ground to 8 storey building comprising 60 new residential dwellings, provision of car and cycle parking, refuse storage; landscaping and new boundary treatment; provision of plant and associated works.''

They want to build a block of 1,2,3 and 4 bed properties on a 4 storey plinth which they have said will reduce to three storeys next to the existing properties on Kent Gardens and Pitshanger Lane, but could be as high as eight storeys at the roundabout.

Lamppost planning notice, consultation ends 23/06/2021

Base Green Holdings 2 Ltd describe themselves as ''a development company owned by a small Ealing based housebuilder with a strong track record of delivering best in class homes for the design-conscious buyers and renters of West London."

They have said: '' In bringing forward our proposals we have responded to the character of the existing local buildings and the diverse mix of architectural styles whilst reflecting the predominant use of brick as an external material.

''The location offers us an opportunity to enhance the local area by creating a well-designed modern building marking the entrance to Pitshanger Lane and adding value to the local community and local economy and where people will enjoy a great quality of life."

However, 135 comments have already been registered on Ealing's planning portal with the majority against the scheme.

Objectors say it's 'totally out of keeping with the area, will cause significant strain locally including increased pollution and traffic. Others believe it ''will ruin our local community'' highlighting Pitshanger is a unique village ''and should remain as such''.

There are currently 14 supporting the application with comments including: ''This will be fantastic for Ealing and exactly the new kind of development that is needed to refresh the area'' and one from a resident with an address in SW6: '' Looking forward to reviving the community.''

Pitshanger Community Association has prepared a guidance document for those commenting and suggest ward councillors and the local MP, James Murray, are contacted too.

The PCA say ''Pitshanger supports new housing wherever possible but only when it won’t be detrimental to those who live and work in the area''.

A previous application for Kenmure Mansions generated over 1400 objections and the PCA hope this will generate more.

The deadline for the consultation period given on the yellow planning application notic is 23rd June, however LBE take comments into account on the planning application past the deadline.
