Ealing Councillor Witnesses Violent Motorbike Theft

Concerns that gang may be working in the area

There is growing concern that a gang is working in the Ealing area stealing motorbikes after a number of incidents have been reported on social media.

Ealing Common Liberal Democrat Councillor, Jon Ball, recently witnessed a crime taking place. He was with his colleagues Craig O'Donnell, Mark Sanders and delivering leaflets on Gunnersbury Avenue with another local activist.

He said , ''Craig delivered a leaflet to a house that had four guys in black bike leather and helmets outside it who were manoeuvring a motorbike around - almost hitting him with it. At first I assumed that they lived there or were friends of someone living there but then a man from inside the house shouted something to them and came out. They chased him back inside and one of the four ran to the door and smashed the glass with a hammer while the resident was just behind it.

''I saw that another one of them had an angle grinder. I got my phone out and dialled 999 but the four men quickly rode off on two motorbikes northbound up the north circular and I realised later that at least one of them was stolen from the front of this house.

''It was very scary to witness this violent gang operating in broad daylight. They were all dressed in black bike leathers with back helmets. A couple of the helmets had red spikes on either side but otherwise the four men looked identical as if they were in a uniform. The stolen motorbike had a tracker on it.''

In emergency or if witnessing a crime taking place always call 999
