More help needed to get project to its target
Free sunflowers seeds to be handed out in the park on Bank Holiday Monday
There has been a significant level of support from the local community for the fundraising efforts of the Lammas Park Pavilion Project.
This Bank Holiday Monday the team behind the effort will be in the park giving out free sunflower seeds to boost support further.
The community campaign to restore and bring back into wider public use the dilapidated Edwardian pavilion in Lammas Park has received pledges of support from 80 local people and business totalling over £11,000 at the time of writing.
This still leaves the project short of its £20,000 target and the ‘all or nothing’ nature of a campaign run on Spacehive means it is critical more pledges are received over the next few weeks.
The money raised in the first phase will pay for a feasibility study which will ultimately produce a final report showing how to progress.
A series of consultation events is set to take place over the summer to engage with local people and existing community groups to hear their views about how best to use the space.
The Project Team says, ‘Over the last few months we have formed a growing community of volunteers and backers and the project now has real community spirit and energy. We are grateful for this and all the new connections made. We are still waiting to hear from the ‘Future Ealing’ fund and other grant giving bodies, but we are confident that with more local support we can cover that final gap.’
The Team will be in Lammas Park on Bank Holiday Monday (3 May) and you are invited to come along and say hello and claim your free sunflower seeds.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets. We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more. However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them.
