Work to begin in 2012 - (oh my!)
I am copying - in full - the press release that I have just read.
Please forgive my excitement but this means we are going to have a cinema again - doesn't it?
Empire Cinemas are today pleased to confirm that construction at the Ealing site will soon begin, after receiving planning permission from the council to expand the existing cinema.
Following several years of wrangling which have prevented work on the site moving ahead, Ealing is now well on the way to being able to look forward to a bigger and better Empire Cinema complex, as the £25 million expansion and renovation gets underway.
With the addition of four new STUDIO screens, the cinema will expand from a 16 to 20 screen complex and will also see the introduction of Empire Cinemas’ large screen format - IMPACT. Work will begin on site in early 2012.
Whilst the reopening of the cinema will give Ealing residents access to Empires Cinemas great movie offerings once more, the development will also generate several new jobs for local residents.
Justin Ribbons, CEO of Empire Cinemas said: ''Our number one ambition in Ealing has always been to provide its residents and visitors with the first class cinema experience they deserve, and we’re extremely pleased to have finally been given permission to deliver.
''After years of frustration, we’re delighted that we’ll soon be able to commence work on what we’re sure will become one of the area’s most popular leisure attractions. I’d like to thank the Ealing residents for their support, patience and understanding and the council for their extremely steady and thoughtful assistance in finally giving us the ability to bring our plans for the community to fruition.”
