Ratings are given from 0 to 5 and the Bangladeshi curry house which has many positive reviews on its website, was given the lowest Hygiene Rating by Inspectors from Ealing on 20th January, 2016.

The ratings reflect the standards of food hygiene found on the date of inspection - they aren't to do with food quality.

Officers look at: how hygienically the food is handled – how it is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored, the condition of the structure of the buildings – the cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation and other facilities, and how the business manages and records what it does to make sure food is safe.

At the end of the inspection, the business is given one of the six ratings from 0-5. The top rating of ‘5’ means that the business was found to have ‘very good’ hygiene standards.

The Coriander Leaf scored 0 - the lowest possible.

Food hygiene was deemed to be bad - which the FSA define as 'a general failure to satisfy statutory obligations and standards generally low.'

The structural compliance - ie cleanliness, layout, condition of structure, lighting, ventilation, facilities was deemed to be 'poor' meaning there was 'non-compliance with statutory obligations and more effort was required to prevent fall in standards'.

Inspectors declared they had 'little' confidence in management.

The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) gives information to consumers about food outlets, ranging from restaurants and pubs, to cafes, takeaways, hotels and supermarkets, where they go to eat or shop. The information is publicly available for over 2,500 businesses in Ealing. Each business is given their hygiene rating when it is inspected by a food safety officer from the business’s local authority.
