Residents evacuated from Hessel Road
A gardener in W13 dug up a little more than he expected on Saturday when he found a wartime shell.
Police were called to Hessel Road, West Ealing at 10.21am where a World War 2 bomb had been dug up by a resident.
A 50 metre cordon was put in place and and the specialist bomb disposal unit (Expo) called. When they checked the shell they confirmed that it was empty.
The cordon was lifted at 11.13am and residents were allowed to return.
