Big Ofsted Boost for Stanhope Primary School
Once rated inadequate, now outstanding in three categories

There has been cause for celebration at Stanhope Primary School in Greenford following the latest inspector’s report from Ofsted.
Having been previously rated as ‘Inadequate’ the school has seen progressive improvement over the years being upgraded first to ‘requires improvement’ then to ‘Good’ and now, most recently ‘Good with outstanding features’.
The school is now rated as ‘outstanding’ in three categories: Behaviour & Attitudes, Personal Development and Early Years. The improved report comes a year after a new Head Teacher took charge.

‘From early years onwards, the school provides pupils with multiple enrichment opportunities. Leaders encourage high levels of pupil participation and have ambitious aspirations for all. The provision for performing arts and work on social responsibility are real strengths of the school. Pupils take great pride in performing to a variety of audiences through participation in competitions for speech and drama and ‘memory championships.’
The report also praises the school for the way that teachers are treated stating, ‘The well-being of staff has been a priority over the last year. Staff are very appreciative of and extremely positive about the support that they receive, including the introduction of a well-being charter. Staff morale is high and staff said how much that they enjoy working at this school.’
Parents also told Ofsted how happy they are with provision with the inspector saying, ‘The school shows a strong commitment to the pupils and community that it serves. Leaders and staff involve parents and carers closely in their children’s education and give them help to support learning at home. Parents are highly positive about all the guidance and care that the school gives them.’
Personal development was celebrated by Ofsted, which said that the practice was worthy of sharing with other schools. As well as offering piano and guitar tuition, the school offers an array of extra-curricular clubs and educational visits. In addition to this, staff have designed Cultural Capital Homework Menus with activity ideas for parents to do with their children to further enhance the curriculum.
Not only does the school have a very positive Ofsted report but it was named as an IQM Centre of Excellence for Inclusion this July.
The school is also a LAMDA-registered centre and works with the Primary Shakespeare Company and Mozartists. It also offers Mandarin lessons for children from Nursery to Year 6, which is taught by native speakers. Year 2 pupils won a national Chinese Bridge competition for their excellence achievement in Mandarin speaking.
