The latest business to close on Devonshire Road

The Parlour blowdry and braid bar on Devonshire Road has closed.

Owner Jacqueline posted a message to customers on Facebook and on the website, and said that The Parlour was now closed and future bookings were also cancelled. The shop closed its doors on January 17th.

She said that there were many factors for the closure, including the commute, and family committments, but also difficulties of operating a small business in the current economic situation with increased rates and charges.

In her Facebook message, she said that they had not qualified for small business relief, despite only having five employees, and their retail relief had been taken away. The Council putting rates up was another difficulty.

But she also thanked her local customers and said she had enjoyed her time in Chiswick.

"But one thing I have learned from this is that life is crazy and utterly unpredictable, and though nothing is certain it is definitely worth taking some risks now and then. I have learned so much from this business and from all of you and for that I am incredibly grateful.
"We thank you all for your support, encouragement, patronage, and loyalty. We met some truly amazing people here and cherish every single moment."
