Fat Face To Close In Chiswick

Clothing store is to leave Turnham Green Terrace

The Chiswick branch of clothing store Fat Face is to close.

A member of staff confirmed the closure which is expected to be sometime in the next few months. The lease of the shop is currently advertised for sale.

The chain sold outdoor casualwear and accessories for men, women and children.

Fat Face

Fat Face had been in Chiswick for about four years.

The Ealing and Westfield White City branches recently closed. From now on, local customers will have to travel either to Kingston upon Thames or into Kings Road to shop at Fat Face.

Some staff are being offered jobs in other branches while others have chosen to go elsewhere.

Fat Face is owned by private equity group Bridgepoint, which in 2013 appointed former M & S boss Stuart Rose as Chairman.

The company was originally founded in 1988 by Tim Slade and Jules Leaver as a business selling teeshirts at ski resorts. The name "Fat Face" was inspired by the Face de Bellevarde slope in Val-d'Isère. The company opened its first retail shop on the Fulham Road in 1993 and in 2014 had over 200 stores in the UK and Ireland.
