The mobile network provider O2 is set to reopen a store on Chiswick High Road this November, marking a return to the area after several years’ absence.

The new outlet, located at 346–348 Chiswick High Road, will occupy the former Paperchase site, which closed in February 2023 following the stationery chain’s collapse into administration.

The store will span a 1,141 sq ft sales area and sits just a few doors down from Vodafone, one of O2’s key competitors. It also lies close to the site of O2’s previous Chiswick branch at number 286, now home to Amorino gelateria.

O2, now part of Virgin Media O2 following their 2021 merger, is the UK’s largest mobile network provider and Virgin Media remains the country’s leading cable broadband operator. The new store will offer mobile handsets and accessories alongside Virgin Media’s broadband and entertainment packages.

Unlike several other mobile phone retailers in Chiswick, which have adopted locked-door policies in response to rising theft and staff safety concerns, O2 has confirmed it will not implement such a system. Instead, a security guard will be stationed at the entrance to support staff and customers.

An O2 spokesperson said, “The opening of our new store in Chiswick demonstrates our ongoing commitment to serving customers at a time and place that works best for them, including on the high street. Over the past 12 months, we have invested millions of pounds to upgrade and improve more than 100 stores, giving customers a great experience when they visit us.

“We look forward to serving our customers in the Chiswick area once the store opens in the coming weeks.”
