Organic supermarket, As Nature Intended, looks set to be rebranded as Planet Organic.

An application has been submitted to Hounslow Council for a new advertising displays and frontages with the livery of the company which took over As Nature Intended earlier this year.

Planet Organic is believed to have been the first company to open an organic supermarket in the UK when it started trading in Westbourne Grove in 1995. It currently has eight stores all in the south east of England.

In March of this year it acquired As Nature Intended for an undisclosed sum. It has seven stores in the London area and was founded by Sir Malcolm Walker who also set up the Iceland supermarket chain. He owned it along with his daughter Caroline Gooding. Previously it was generating revenue of £11milllion.

The store opened in Chiswick in 2000 and sells products ranging from fresh meat and fish, 'free from' items for special dietary requirements, chilled goods, beer and wine, and supplements and skincare. There are also branches in Balham and Marble Arch and Ealing
