One of Chiswick High Road’s longest surviving retailers is set to close.

Menswear shop American Pie is currently holding a closing down sale with plans to shut permanently shortly according to owner Bashir Mohammed.

The decision was taken due to 73-year-old Mr Mohammed’s desire to retire rather than any issues with trading or lease renewal with the unit at 198/200. The final day of trading is expected to be towards the end of next month.

The retailer has survived nearly half a century and opened in 1976 when in this country, people were worried about inflation and high energy bills.

Collection, the ladies’ clothes shop next door which had been run by Mr Mohammed and his wife closed in 2022 due to a failure to agree lease renewal with the landlord and is currently occupied by Iris Fashion.
