Outdoor wear store latest closure in Chiswick

Blacks Leisure, a retailer of hiking and camping gear, has closed their store on Chiswick High Road this week.

It has been known for some time that the group is in financial trouble as it has been suffering from competition from discount retailers on the high street and online.

A note on the door of the shop directs people to other stores in London which remain open.

The chain was acquired earlier in 2012 by JD Sports who have been steadily closing less profitable units.

We contacted JD Sports to ask them if they intended to reopen a sports shop on the site but we have yet to receive a reply.
