Baskin Robbins to Open on High Road

Global chain turns up heat in Chiswick ice cream wars

Yet another ice cream store looks set to open in the area. Baskin Robbins, the world's largest speciality ice cream store has placed a banner announcing a future opening above the premises formerly occupied by fashion outlet Sisley at 159, Chiswick High Road.

This will bring the number of ice cream outlets within short walk to four. In recent years the established family owned Fouberts has been joined by Gelato Mio on Chiswick High Road and Samba Swirl on Turnham Green Terrace.

Baskin Robbins is part of a global operation with over 4,500 shops. It is a sister company of the Dunkin Donuts chain. In Chicago one of the stores has a plaque on the spot where it is claimed that Michele and Barack Obama shared their first kiss. Ironically, a major shareholder in the company is Bain, the former employer of Mitt Romney.

We contacted Baskin Robbins to ask for confirmation of an opening date but have yet to receive a response.
