Plus new unlimited ticket membership sale (Ad)

The Chiswick Cinema are proving there is life beyond the BARBIE-world with an incredible line-up of events for September, some further specialist film seasons and a sale on their new unlimited ticket Membership. Having celebrated their busiest weekends yet, they are looking to buck the trend and continue to lead the way for independent cinemas.

An all-star cinema exclusive evening continues the hugely popular Lord Richard Attenborough Centenary Year celebrations, which has been organized by the cinema programme and marketing manager Chris Parker in collaboration with Richard’s son, acclaimed theatre director Michael Attenborough CBE.

On Saturday 16th September at 7pm, Sir Ben Kingsley (‘GANDHI), Dame Penelope Wilton (‘CRY FREEDOM’), Geraldine James OBE (‘GANDHI), Kevin McNally (‘CRY FREEDOM’) and George Fenton CBE (composer of ‘GANDHI’, ‘CRY FREEDOM’ and ‘SHADOWLANDS’) will take to the stage to share their stories and memories of working with one of Britain’s most beloved and important filmmakers. Michael Attenborough CBE chairs.

Future films in the season are now added due to popular demand; ‘MAGIC, ‘SEANCE ON A WET AFTERNOON’, ‘JURASSIC PARK, ‘MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET’ and ’10 RILLINGTON PLACE’ all screen later this year. (Joining ‘SHADOWNLANDS’ and ‘OH! WHAT A LOVELY WAR as part of the original line-up.) Jonathan Glazer’s ‘SEXY BEAST’ screens in anticipation of Sir Ben Kingsley’s personal appearance at the cinema.

The hugely popular Chiswick in Film Festival also returns to the cinema in September, following hot on heels from the Chiswick Book Festival. Films that have been shot in Chiswick or made by Chiswick locals feature in the line up. Current guests include Ricky Tomlinson (for resident Rob Sprackling’s cult favourite football comedy ‘MIKE BASSETT: ENGLAND MANAGER’), Sir Stephen Frears and Andy Harries (for their locally-shot ‘THE QUEEN’) and Shaun the Sheep himself (to reveal a surprising connection to Chiswick with ‘SHAUN THE SHEEP MOVE’).

The cinema are also counting down to the release of ‘THE KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON’ with a hand-picked retrospective on Martin Scorsese’s works dubbed ‘GOD’S LONELY MEN.’ Six films including ‘GOODFELLAS’, ‘TAXI DRIVER’ and ‘SILENCE’ screen throughout September and October. The cinema regularly programmes classics, often with the direct input of their Membership in what screens.

With headline Q&As almost every weekend in the month, it’s the perfect time to join the cinema’s Membership and extract some extra value from your visits.
