Chance For A Grand Design On Duke Road

Council to cash in on Chiswick's rising property market with land auction

Residents hoping to secure a place for their children at St Mary's RC Primary School will be interested to hear that Hounslow Council is auctioning off a piece on land on the corner of Duke Road and Fraser Street.

Even if the school is not an attraction, the fact that the piece of land is already considered suitable for a Residential Development (subject to all consents) on an estate that has seen house prices go through the roof is appealing enough.

The site occupies a prominent corner site with a long frontage to Fraser Street and has an area of 127.35 m2, plenty of room for a grand design.

Hounslow Council has netted revenue of more than £32 million over the past decade through auctioning off publicly owned land and council housing. West End based auctioneers ColliersCRE, who have been acting on behalf of Hounslow Council for 13 years, have raised more than £2,800,000 for the council over the past twelve months alone.

In 2005 small site of a former boys club located in Prince of Wales Terrace behind La Trompette sold at auction for £1,055,000 without planning permission off a guide price of £350,000. An unmodernised house on Airedale Avenue was sold at the end of last year for £1,160,000 off a guide price of £700,000.

The Duke Road auction will take place on 15th October and has a current guide price of £250,000 - £300,000.
